چکیده
Chenistry of Carcinogenic Compounds The first of the eighteen articles, which is by Haddow and Kon, on the chemistry of carcinogenic compounds1 begins with Percival Pott (1775) and leads the history of the subject via Yamagiwa to Kennaway's work on synthetic tars (Kennaway, 1924, 1925; Kennaway and Hieger,. 1930) and his discoveryt of the first cancer producing hydrocarbon, I: 2: 5: 6-dibenzanthracene (Fig. l).

Radiation-induced Non-targeted Effect and Carcinogenesis; Implications in Clinical Radiotherapy
Bystander or non-targeted effect is known to be an interesting phenomenon in radiobiology. The genetic consequences of bystander effect on non-irradiated cells have shown that this phenomenon can be considered as one of the most important factors involved in secondary cancer after exposure to ionizing radiation. Every year, millions of people around the world undergo radiotherapy in order to cu...

A group of experiments is presented in which inhibition of chemical carcinogenesis in experimental animals has been achieved by administration of 1 of a variety of chemical com pounds. The inhibitory compounds can be divided into 4 groups. The 1st group is composed of compounds which induce an in creased activity of carcinogen-detoxifying systems; the 2nd, compounds with similar structures to c...
متن کاملAlterations in signal transduction pathways implicated in tumour progression during multistage mouse skin carcinogenesis.
The multistage mouse skin carcinogenesis model, although an artificial one, is an ideal system to study the timing of qualitative and quantitative alterations which take place during the different stages of chemical carcinogenesis, allowing analysis of the events that lead to the transition from the stage of initiation to the stage of promotion and finally to the progression of carcinogenesis. ...

Chemical toxicology and carcinogenesis are dynamic disciplines, and the methodologies associated with these evaluations are under constant development and change. Accordingly, early in 1983, at the request of the National Toxicology Program (NTP), the NTP Board of Scientific Counselors established an Ad Hoc Panel on Chemical Carcinogenesis Testing and Evaluation with Dr. John Doull (University ...
